5 Tips For Women Who Jog to Lose Weight

One of the fastest healthy ways to lose weight is to jog everyday.

Yes, you can drop the pounds quickly by crash dieting, but once you eat normally, the pounds pile back on.. with interest.

Many of those who lose weight and who kept it off did so through a change in lifestyle. They watch what they eat and exercise regularly.

Jogging is the easiest form of exercise that you can take up. On top of that, jogging or running burns more calories than cycling, swimming, and most sports.

All you need is a pair of running shoes and you are good to go.

1. Make your morning or evening jog a habit.

We are all creatures of habit. If your evenings are likely to be busy, then wake up an hour earlier each morning and go for your morning jog. You'd have 30 minutes to jog and 30 minutes to shower and get ready for work. If you are a night owl, make it a point to jog every night. Do whatever works for you, but make it the same time, every day to the point that it becomes part of your daily routine. So that it feels funny when you don't go for your run or jog.

2. Drink plenty of water.

You lose lots of fluid through sweat when you run. Keep yourself hydrated. Drink a glass before and after your jogs or runs. Drink 8 glasses of water throughout the day to keep yourself hydrated. Water has zero calories and fills your stomach, so you'd end up eating less and losing more fat.

3. Pile your plate with fresh fruit and veggies.

These are loaded with antioxidants, vitamins and energy your body needs to stay healthy. There is a debate about whether runners are exposed to more free radicals due to exercise, but hey, it wouldn't harm you to get a healthy dose of free radical busting antioxidants. An added plus if you are trying to lose weight -- fresh fruits and veggies (not the juices) are loaded with fiber and fill your stomach so you don't eat so much.

4. Wear breathable clothes

Here's a secret. Cotton is not necessarily the best fabric to wear when you jog or run or sweat it out. Cotton holds on to 80% more moisture than the synthetics that were developed for activewear. Sweat evaporates more quickly off fabrics. Which means, while damp cotton clothing sticks to your skin, ultrasensor clothes dry off quickly, leaving you drier and more comfortable.

 5. Invest in a good pair of running shoes.

Your shoes protect your feet, legs and knees when you run. They absorb the impact and also protect your legs. Invest in a pair that suits your feet and style of running.
